Roses Are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink
By: Diane De Groat
Gilbert has a real dilemma. He's writing poems on his Valentine cards, for his classmates, but doesn't want to write something nice to Lewis and Margaret. Diane De Groat has written a simple, charming story with a powerful message about the importance of second chances, that youngsters 4-8 will easily understand. Her gentle text and wonderful watercolor illustrations really capture the small hurts and slights kids experience and her positive, uplifting ending and sensible solution should open good discussions at home and at school. Saint Valentine
By: Robert Sabuda
How did Valentine's Day, one of our most popular holidays, begin? It started in ancient Rome when a kind physician named Valentine took an interest in a young blind girl. With his healing skill and his deep faith he restored her sight. What we now call Valentine's Day began when he sent the little girl a secret message, which she received after the Christian martyr was executed. For this tale rich in sentiment, master illustrator Robert Sabuda has created exquisite paper mosaics to suggest early Christian art that resonates with both subtlety and power. More Info click here.

Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown
By: Paramount Home Video
This half-hour show finds Charlie Brown suffering, typically, the ignominy of receiving no hearts-and-flowers greetings while the rest of the gang, including Snoopy, spend their day sorting through piles of love notes. Worse, Schulz's famous sad sack can't get up the nerve to approach his unapproachable angel, though there may be--just may be--a glimmer of hope this time around. It may be Valentine's Day, but not much else is different in the "Peanuts" neighborhood. More Info click here.
Winnie the Pooh - Un-Valentine's Day
By: Disney Studios
This video from Disney's Winnie the Pooh series introduces young children to themes of generosity, and explores the meaning of Valentine's Day. Rabbit decides that the animals had given each other too many valentines the previous year. (Pooh in particular went overboard, giving two valentines for every one he received.) Rabbit tells the animals that Valentine's Day has been canceled. But when Pooh discovers that somebody left a jar of honey outside his door as a valentine, he decides to quietly give a valentine to his friend Piglet. Before long, all the animals are giving valentines to each other. More Info click here.
